Within the past 24 hours, 2.5 tons of cannabis have been seized in
Albania after several police operations, with the biggest quantity
caught in Vlore.
The border police declared that they have seized 700 kilograms of cannabis in the Karaburun Bay, around the place called Gjiri I Arushes. The drug was loaded on a seven meter long inflatable boat.
After gathering information through operative ways, the police found the vessel with the drug packed and ready to be sent to Italy.
Police say that they are searching traffickers in the entire peninsula. According to the data, the vehicle had arrived from Greece.
In the first hours of the morning, police seized 400 kg of cannabis in Gjirokaster. Police detected a vehicle leaving the Vlore Lazarat village while they blocked the Gjirokaster-Subash village in Mashkullore.
Police arrested the driver, Luan Tahiraj, after finding the drug inside his van.
In another operation, police seized 200 kg of hashish in a truck with Saranda plates. Yesterday the Vlore Police blocked 840 kilograms of cannabis that were to be transported to Italy. The Tirana police arrested six people and seized 300 kg of cannabis in the Shen Gergj village.
