Ready to transfer judges

The Ministry of Justice, Eduard Halimi, announced soon they will start
transferring the judges to courts according to a study made by the
EURALIUS mission, which determines that the courts with more voluminous
work must have more judges working for them.

According to the Minister, there are 320 judges in the Courts of First Degree and the Appeal who are expected to get transferred. The Minister of Justice also declared that some almost forgotten cases at the High Court of Justice should be inspected.

“I congratulate the current HCJ chairman for providing to the Ministry the documents for proceeding with the inspection of the judges”, Halimi declared.

The British ambassador, Nicholas Cannon, declared that one of the main causes for the moment is the passing of the law for the Supreme Court.

“I welcome the fact that the law for the Supreme Court is ready by the parties. I hope that this law will pass in parliament and enter in effect as soon as possible”, Mr. Cannon declared.

These declarations were made public during a poll held by the Centre for Transparency and Free Information and the British Embassy in 14 courts, with topics such as corruption, the independence and integrity of the justice system.

177 judges took part in the poll and answered to questions about corruption, the influence of politics and the reasons why the trials are delayed.
