Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Red and Black Alliance presented the draft “for limiting the
mandates of high rank leaders in the Albanian state”. This political
force says that the Prime Minister and the leaders of any other
institution should not have the right to stay for more than two
mandates.
Kreshnik Spahiu declared at the RBA National Council that the unlimited mandates have been the source of a long transition, and of constant political and institutional crises.
“In 1968, when many of has were not born yet, Sali Berisha appeared at the political scene as a Secretary of the Communist Party, a function that he held for 22 years until 1990. Now he is leading the Democratic Party for 23 years, after seven mandates. After this he has two mandates as President, and two mandates as Prime Minister. Right after him comes Edi Rama, who led the Municipality of Tirana for 12 years, and even ran for a fourth mandate. Another collaborator of Berisha, Ilir Meta, was elected three times as the leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration party, by changing its statute”, Spahiu declared.
Other municipalities and communes also are being led by people who keep the same posts for more than three mandates, turning into the small mafia people of towns and villages. Spahiu signed an agreement with the Leading Council that he will not be leader of this political force for more than two mandates.
