NATO General Secretary, Anders Fogh Rasmussen declared that KFOR will
intervene if peace and security in Northern Kosovo will be endangered.
Rasmussen gave this comment in Prishtina, during a press conference held after the meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci.
“KFOR has the mandate to secure a calm and peaceful environment. KFOR will undertake all necessary actions if this peace and security will be endangered”, declared Rasmussen, according to Telegraf.
The NATO General Secretary gave no details about the operation for opening the border checkpoints on September 16th, but showed the determination that KFOR will not allow peace to be infringed in Kosovo.
“KFOR troops will act in defense, only for guaranteeing a calm and safe environment”, Rasmussen declared.
Rasmussen reminded that for 12 years, NATO has been able to guarantee peace and security for all parties in Kosovo, but he warned that no one will tolerate a return to violence or other tensions.
