
The NATO General Secretary, Anders Fogh Rasmussen will visit Kosovo this
Thursday, in the attempts for cooling tensions in northern borders .
The news came from the NATO spokesperson, Carmen Romero, who declared that Rasmussen will meet the Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Slobodan Petrovich and the Minister of Kosovo Special Forces, Agim Çeku.
“The NATO General Secretary will ask all parties to cooperate with constructive dialogue and avoid violence”, the spokesperson declared.
After Kosovo authorities, Rasmussen will meet the KFOR Commander, General Erhard Drews.
Kosovo Government’s announcement for extending authority in northern territories has spurred new tensions in the area.
Some Mitrovica areas, mainly the “Bosnians’ Neighborhood”, have seen movements of Serbian citizens placing barriers.
The operation of official Prishtina, prepared with the cooperation of KFOR and EULEX, also had the support of the USA, Britain and France.
The US Ambassador, Christopher Dell expressed his stance in favor of this operation. The French François Fitou and the British Han Cliff gave their declarations this Wednesday, during the meetings with the Kosovo Deputy Prime Ministers Hajredin Kuci and Edita Tahiri.
