The problematic met by the Albanian youth, and especially those on
education system, were the focus of the SP meeting with to goal to
explain the details of the program launched by the opposition, “For a
National Rebirth”.

Edi Rama declared that the Albanian youth is confused by the heavy wound of unemployment. He mentioned the education, by supporting the civil society initiative for the electing school directors by parents and teachers, and not by the ruling party branches.

“I followed the civil society initiative with interest, which aimed to involve the citizen community for electing school teachers and directors, in order to have a just quality of their children’s learning. This was part of our governing program since 2009, and it is again today, for changing the social culture in schools”, Rama declared.

According to Edi Rama, the private education should be based on competition and meritocracy.

“The government’s policy for opening the university doors to anyone is a time bomb. New private universities are being created each day, far from fulfilling any criteria, and being used by the governing system. The recent university financing reforms for favoring the private system unjustly, means removing the latest foundation stone of the Albanian education system”, Rama declared.

The opposition leader spoke about the difficulties that the education in villages is facing, where there are no professional schools.

“Therefore, these consults are very necessary, so that the program for a national rebirth can have as many co-owners and cooperators as possible”, Rama declared.

The new law for the pre-university education will be discussed soon at the Parliamentary Commission.
