The Albanian opposition criticized the new privatization campaign that peaks with hydropower plants sale.

Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, considered this action as a disorganization of the economy, which, according to him, is already in a dangerous phase where the government of Sali Berisha is opening ways to new abuses with Albanians’ properties.

Edi Rama warned of not recognizing the legitimacy of this process.

“We will not recognize as legal any processes of this kind. The stance that we have kept towards other corrupted processes with mafia background will be the same for the process of these national assets privatization. We will turn these properties back to the Albanian people”, Rama declared.

“Titanic efforts are needed to find a way out of this economic impasse in which the Albanian economy is in”, Rama declared, connecting the economic situation with May 8th elections.

“As for the declarations on wages, operative expenses and economic assistance increase; these declarations have only one purpose: to deform the election process and to deepen the abyss where the Albanian economy is drowning. Sooner or later, all of us will be facing this abyss”, Rama declared.

By concluding his speech, Rama compared the economic situation with a time bomb, the explosion moment of which is approaching.
