The opposition leader, Edi Rama, reconfirmed his determination to remove the small business tax.

Rama declared that although the small business tax was halved in 2007, this business pays today three times more, together with the other taxes. Referring to the table, the opposition leader showed why the small business today is burdened by high tax bills.

SP calculated the effect that it will have for every family, saying that the revenues that remain for the small business will vary from 700.000 to 1.200.000 ALL.

Government: SP tax removal, empty promise

After a meeting with the small businesses in the Albanian capital, the Deputy Minister of Finances, Nezir Haldeda, considered the oppositions declarations for removing the small business tax an empty electoral promise in which the business itself doesn’t believe.

“No one believes that the small business tax will be zeroed, because taxes not only are made simpler, but are also reduced. This tax was halved in 2007, and this very opposition was against that decision. Now they say that it should be removed”, Haldeda declared.

The Minister of Finances declared that what burdens the small businesses are the delays in the administrative procedures, for being in order with the tax regulations.

“We will serve better and faster to the small businesses, which are much more flexible, because they are able to close and open a new one in a few months. There is a minimum of requests and we are trying to make them simpler, with electronic access”, Haldeda declared.

When asked by Top Channel about the compensation of the former political prisoners, who are holding a hunger strike for the last 22 days, the Deputy Minister of Finances declared that they don’t want to speculate with this. “It will be treated according to the law and no one is above the law”, he declared.
