The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared at the NATO Conference
in Tirana that our country will improve its contribution with the
alliance by increasing the defense spending.
“Albania’s NATO missions have never received a single vote against in Parliament. Our attendance has not been easy, due to our country’s limited resources, but our presence will be strengthened by more defense spending”, Rama declared.
The Prime Minister also revealed the scheme how the higher spending will be made possible without being a heavy burden on Albania’s modest budget.
“Our project makes sure that the Armed Forces return back these funds by engaging in civilian emergencies, aerial and maritime control, supporting the State Police and helping with other public services”, Rama said.
Rama said that Montenegro’s accession is one step closer to making Balkan a region of peace and stability, which is an important responsibility for Albania as well, as a NATO Members. But it will only be complete when Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia Herzegovina and Serbia will become members as well.
