Rama: We want an answer for pact

The opposition leader, Edi Rama, appealed the Prime Minister Berisha to
give an official answer for the pact offered by the Socialists, as the
only solution for opening way to the European Albania.

“With or without desire, this government must address in Parliament, together with the opposition, to all critics made by the European Union. With or without desire, this majority must work with the opposition to recover the state, to reform justice and guarantee institutional independence with a European political process. They must clearly explain why they do not want this pact, and if they don’t want it, they must tell us what they want to review in this pact, if they want to review anything”.

During his speech at the Parliamentary Group, Edi Rama emphasized that the Socialist Party and the entire opposition are ready to study a counteroffer of the Democratic Party.

“EU integration is not like the ‘dance of the swords’ that can be led alone, by only shouting. It s a symphony and the Parliament must function as an orchestra. Shouting from dusk till dawn the ‘historical achievements’ of this government, under the ‘legendary’ lead of Sali Berisha, and by offending the majority, one cannot knock on the EU door and neither can he expect that door to open”, Rama underlined.

Rama invited Berisha in a public debate, but the refusal came through the Democratic Party Spokesperson.

As for the pact, Rama declared that the Socialist Party will organized joint discussion tables with experts of the field, for treating any possible problem. According to Rama, his side will offer full transparency for the public.

As for the request of the pact that requires investigations about what has been mentioned in the Wikileaks cables, Rama added that the government should let the Prosecution investigate without being afraid of anything.

“We are very clear! This request has nothing to do with the USA and our good American friends, who have contributed and are still contributing by supporting the Albanian people. Full stop! Our request is related with the necessity of the Albanian public to know the truth for the horrors that they read for several weeks about their political leaders and key government protagonists”, Rama declared.

Rama did not leave without mentioning the fact that after submitting the request for removing VAT on some vital food products and cutting it to half for some others, the Socialists will also request to remove VAT for electrical power.
