The Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, asked Prime Minister Sali Berisha
to stop the accusations and slanders against the opposition, and start
cooperating for fulfilling the electoral reform and the consensus for
the New President. He underlined that these are the first steps that
should be held before the test that Albania has this autumn with the
European Union.
Speaking for the media, Rama expressed his concern that there is no time and the international messages are very clear, but they are falling on the government’s deaf ear.
“The Prime Minister is showing no will for placing the country over the personal interests. This is a historical moment for Albania, because our country is on a crossroad for the presidential election and the test of this autumn. We cannot receive the EU candidate status if we don’t conclude the electoral reform before May 24th. In this historical moment, the Prime Minister is playing deaf wit our dialogue request for the election of the new President, which must be a president for all Albanians, while Berisha wants him under his service”, Rama declared.
The Socialist leader underlined that this is not the right time for deepening the divisions, but this is the moment to leave the traditional political trenches and join all energies in function of the elections that today are being held for our future.
