Victor Ponta, the Prime Minister of Romania, held a meeting with the
opposition leader, Edi Rama, where they discussed about the European
perspective and the cooperation plan for today in opposition and
tomorrow in government.

The discussion with the Romanian Prime Minister was focused on the reinforcing of the mutual cooperation, without leaving outside sensible topics such as Romania’s position for Kosovo.

“I am happy to meet here in Brussels my friend and colleague, Edi Rama. I gauranteed him that the Romanian people and I, as a Prime Minister, will always support Albania to achieve progress and have a better life, and also to become a member of the European Union. We have our experiences as the newest member of the EU. I know that it is very difficult, but I think that the future of Albania, Romania and the entire region is the EU integration. Hence, I believe that very soon you will be able to be part of the EU”, Ponta declared.

“It was a great pleasure, because this was a meeting between friends, not only a meeting with the Prime Minister of Romania, who I think will win the next mandate of a few months later. We discussed a long-term cooperation, about a connected interaction with Europe and about Albania’s European perspective. Romania could play a great role as a country, and also for our program “For a National Rebirth”, for which I am convinced that we will have a considerable help, based on the fact that the current government is being able to treat the economic crisis without damaging the economic growth, the employment growth, the increase of the social support, as we wish for Albania”, Rama declared.

During his visit in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, the Socialist leader also met the Romanian Parliament Speaker, Valeriu Zgonea.
