The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, had a two-day visit in Macedonia, where
he met the leader of the Macedonian opposition, Branko Cervenkovski, and
promoted his book in a press conference with journalists.
Rama and Cervenkovski exchanged their opinions about the current situation in both countries and the progress of Macedonia and Albania towards EU integration.
The opposition leaders noted that the mutual relations between the two countries are good, with constant advancement possibilities.
Today, on Monday, on the second day of his visit, Rama promoted his book “Kurban” and answered to questions for more than two hours.
As regards the offensive chants of the Macedonian football fans and the arrest of the Albanians who were painting graffiti with Albanian symbols, Rama declared that this is consequence of an old mentality.
“It is primitive and barbarian that in the XXI century, in the middle of Europe, someone gets arrested for drawing a map and calling it Ethnic Albania. Everyone can draw all the maps he wants and call them whatever he likes. What will they do, send them to Hague for crimes against humanity”, Rama declared.
The opposition leader declared that the book is a perfect way for communicating with the Albanians, wherever they might be.
“The Albanian opposition should be more active in the life of regional policies and the communication with the Albanians who live outside the borders, because it is necessary for Albania to intensify its role in the communication with the Albanians. The government cannot make this completely, even if it was a good government and with the others’ support, not to mention when the government is not that good”, Rama declared.
