The Serbian Foreign Minister announced a visit of the Albanian Prime
Minister in Serbia, which, according to them, will take place in
February.
“Edi Rama will be the first Albanian Prime Minister, after Enver Hoxha, that will have an official visit in Serbia”, says the oldest Serbian newspaper “Politika”.
The news has been confirmed by the Foreign Minister, Ivan Mrkic, who said that the visit will take place in February. The newspaper says that the last visit of an Albanian state leader took place in 1946, when the Albanian former dictator, Enver hoxha, visited Belgrade.
The exact date is not known, since the Serbian diplomacy has been busy with Kosovo and the European Union negotiations.
“We greet his initiative to visit Serbia. We are ready to discuss good relations in the region with him”, Mrkic declared.
Both countries are interested to talk about several areas, while one of them is also about the Serbian minority in Albania. According to the Serbian Foreign Minister, Tirana and Belgrade need better relations and stronger connections than before.
The visit of Prime Minister Rama was expected in the past November, but several tensions and the elections in Kosovo did not make it possible.
