One day after the Court gave the verdict for the defendants of the
Gerdeci tragedy, the opposition leader, Edi Rama, declared that the
Albanian justice shocked the public by turning the state crime, with 26
dead citizens as consequence, into a farce that doesn’t consider it as manslaughter, but property damage due to technical negligence.

“Justice has decided to shock the public opinion by turning a state crime with 26 dead people as consequence, into property damage due to technical negligence. This was another ruining hit against the trust of the Albanian citizens and the international community to the Albanian justice. The process excluded the big responsible people of this strategy, giving selective sentences and very disappointing for the public opinion, damaging once again the Prosecution”, Rama declared.

Edi Rama, stopping on the problems that the Albanian justice is facing today, promised that with the arrival of the Socialist Party in power, justice will be equal for everyone.

“Very important are the European Commission declarations for the appointments of the Supreme and Constitutional Court judges, and the removal of mandates for high rank officials, which is a priority for us. We have made public declarations on this topic, but as all other matters, this cannot be detached from a complete vision of the reform in justice. The choice is clear. Today’s government, as for all other services, has chosen the ones that are offered according to your buying capability”, Rama declared.

Rama also underlined the importance of the discussion for the Administrative Court, which should be divided among foreign and local experts.
