Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, declared that he is not surprised by the
verdict read today by the Tirana Court about the January 21st events,
which he considered the most barbarian since the fall of communism.
“Today we didn’t have a trial, but a handshake between those who murdered justice and those who murdered four protesters who demanded justice in their country. And if the January 21st events were the most barbarian state crime in Albania, since the fall of communist, today’s court verdict is the most barbarian murder of justice in Albania, since the fall of communism. Finding the murderers not guilty serves more to the ones who ordered those murders”, Rama declared.
Despite this decision, after June 23rd. Rama declared that Sali Berisha cannot escape justice.
“After June 23rd you will be only the leader of the Democratic Party, facing a transparent public trial for the constitutional violations that took lives, for robbing national assets and money of the Albanian people”, Rama declared.
Rama addressed a message to the victims’ relatives.
“The families of the four January 21st martyrs should not suffer the verdict of a trial that has not started yet. I guarantee the relatives that January 21st is one of those events for which history says that they should not be forgotten and that cannot be closed by an unjust trial”, Rama declared.
Rama reminded the help of the international partners, such as the US and the EU, in the investigation of this state crime. But today’s decision shows the level reached by the impunity culture.
