Rama: Progressive tax to lighten burden

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, explained the progressive taxation
proposed by the opposition in a meeting with business representatives.

“There is no reason to see it as a threat or to panic, as the government is trying to misinform about our proposition”, Rama declared, adding that this will decrease their fiscal burden with 8%, from 10% that currently is.

“The truth is that the progressive tax in personal revenues will have an average burden of 8%, rather than 10%, and will relieve 90% of the employed people from the current taxes. You are the first who know that the lower taxes for the middle class means that more money will be consumed with the products they will buy to you”, Rama declared.

After consulting the representatives of 700 businesses for more than 8 months, the Socialist Party brought a series of proposals for each sector, from the manufacturers to the oil industry, construction, etc, which today are facing a crisis and are receiving no help from the government. Rama said that SP will reactivate their capitals.

The Socialist Party also proposed a new law that will unify the tax administration, with the Tax Inspection as one of them.

“We cannot have 10 inspections a year, one for the income tax, one for the VAT, one for the cleaning tax, one for the insurances, one for the fire security measures, one for the excise, etc… This should not be allowed anymore”, Rama declared.
