Rama: Prifti to be investigated too

20/01/2012 00:00

One day after new videos were published for the public, which show the
affairs of the former Minister of Economy, Dritan Prifti, the Opposition
Leader, Edi Rama, declared that justice should investigate all
published information.

In an interview for Top Channel, the Socialist leader declared that the sentence that found Ilir Meta not guilty doesn’t mean that the arguments were not plausible, but that justice doesn’t function.

TCH: The January 21st demonstrations of one year ago were also encouraged by a video that was published on Top Channel, that showed the then Deputy Prime Minister, Ilir Meta, in a corruption affair with the then Minister of Economy, Dritan Prifti.  The Supreme Court gave a sentence that found Mr. Meta not guilty. Did your argument fall about this case?

Rama: No. On the contrary, the public argument that justice has fallen is reinforced. We are still facing today some dreadful evidence that Albania is sliding towards a regime that aims to return democracy into a formality, and return the Albanians’ life into a forcedly controlled environment, by abusing with all governing instruments.

TCH: Yesterday was published a video that involved Mr. Prifti. What relation has the Socialist Party today with Mr. Prifti?

Rama: The Socialist Party is very clear in its stance that everyone is equal in front of the law, and that justice should function for everyone. Whoever has problems with justice, should be brought to justice. As for Mr. Prifti, he is an MP that came from the governing majority, with shocking reports, and he is not a member of the Socialist Party. I want to tell today to all Albanians that we have entered in a process of slander and blackmails that are indecent for the rule of law, with a mafia style background, with pure non-political, but mafia goals, whose only aim is to guaranteeing the power through illegal undertakings. This process has just started, and by what we have seen, they are trying to throw mud against the opposition at any cost, for pressuring the opposition people and for putting them in despair by surrounding them with a dark environment of injustice. I conclude this answer by saying that everyone, including Mr. Prifti, who is one of the main protagonists of these shocking situations, should be brought to justice.
