Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future “This is a bitter day for our country, because our country has broken
the most negative corruption record in all European countries, taking
the worst evaluation in its 100th anniversary of independence”, declared
Transparency Itnernational.
“This is the most significant gift that our government is giving to the Albanians wherever they are for the 100th anniversary of independence. Albania has fallen in the darkest area of international corruption. In only one year we have gone 15 places down, ranking between Ethiopia and Nigeria, symbols of the international corruption. The newest country in the world, Kosovo, has progressed compared to one year ago and today it overcame Albania. This ranking, so far from the European level, damages Albania’s candidacy for the EU”, Rama declared.
This corruption level now certified by Transparency International is reflected in the budget 2013, considering it a threat for the national security, a devaluation of the Albanian currency, the value of wages and pensions, including the increase of loan interests. Rama underlined that this corruption level is damaging every hope. He appealed all Albanians to join together and return 2013 in the year of great change.
“We have a new tax among the chain of corruption taxes, which is paid by all Albanians. We are here to do everything possible so that 2013 can be the ear of change. We must do the same thing, for Albania to experience its rebirth”, Rama declared.
