Rama-Meta-Idrizi coalition confirmed after SMI and PJIU leaders meet

Before Meta’s coalition with Rama was declared in 2013, he met Idrizi when a third coalition was still an option.

They met together also before the voting of the judiciary reform, when the coalition seemed to be in crisis.

One day after Rama met with Meta in a fish restaurant, Idrizi and the SMI leader also dined together at a known fish shop in Tirana, near the headquarters of the Party for Justice, Integration and Unity.

Sources say the focus of this meeting was the future of the coalition, with PJIU being very careful with its relations with the main parties, since every decision could have a cost.

Meta has confirmed what was reported by Top Channel, that the coalition will not be discussed anymore and it will have three main partners.

The main concern for Meta is the opposition’s withdrawal from elections. Now that the Socialist Movement for Integration registered its commissioners in Kavaja too, their participation in elections is certain.

The most interesting offer so far was made by the PJIU, which asked to expand the ballot counting groups and include more parties, not just the SP, DP, SMI and the Republican Party. This would increase transparency and avoid ballot theft.

The public offer made by the PJIU coincides with Ilir Meta’s concern, to create everything possible for the opposition to be part of the elections and increase the credibility of the process, since the coalition is determined to not take in consideration the option of a technical government.

This could require a postponement of the elections, so that a credible electoral reform could come in place, something discussed between meta and Idrizi too.

Idrizi will meet with PM Rama this Tusday, before the PJIU mandates its leader for an official negotiation with the Socialists. One thing is certain, the Rama-Meta-Idrizi coalition is moving faster than their rivals at the tent.
