Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, met with the Socialist leader, Edi Rama.
The weekly meeting of the EU ambassadors in Tirana, led by Ettore Sequi,
was organized this Thursday to hear the views of the opposition leader,
Edi Rama.
The ambassadors were interested into listening Rama’s points of view about the nationalistic rhetoric in the Albanian politics, including the opposition’s concerns as regards the general elections of June.
Diplomatic sources declared for top Channel that the Ambassadors raised concerns about the climate business and their businessmen in Albania, especially complains related to tax institutions and several constant pressures. Same sources confirmed that they discussed an election monitoring scheme by the EU, together with the OSCE-ODIHR observers, an initiative that was welcomed by Rama.
This is what the German Ambassador, Carola Muller Holtkemper, declared about the meeting for Top Channel.
“He gave his views of the SP program. He was very clear about his position on nationalistic rhetoric during the next elections, including problems related with foreign and local businessmen. I want to clarify that Mr.Rama’s explanations were convincing”, the German Ambassador declared.
Rama hinted that this meeting gave him guarantees that the June 23rd elections would have maximal attention from the EU.
“It was an open and direct cooperation. Because of this, allow me to not make too many comments, but only emphasize that the vote should be intact. Every vote must be counted with honesty. We are now in a phase when we can say that all Albanians who love a European Albania with free elections, is not alone but has many friends around”, Rama declared.
