Rama-McIlwham: Justice, vital significance

18/01/2012 19:25

The main focus of the meeting between the Socialist leader, Edi Rama,
and the UK Ambassador, Fiona McIlwham, were the cases related with the
justice system, underlining the investigation of the January 21st
events.

According to the Socialist press release, in this meeting was shared the same opinion about the significance of the functionality of the justice system and the rule of law, and the indispensability for an impartial investigation of the January 21st events.

Rama informed the British ambassador about the efforts and challenges that the Socialist Party is facing for realizing the electoral and parliamentary reform, together with those in justice.

This is the second meeting of the Socialist Party leader with a foreign ambassador for the recent days. A few days ago he met the US ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, in one of Tirana’s bars.

After the lunch, Ambassador Arvizu refused to give any comment about the meeting. The opposition leader left 30 minutes after Arvizu, by also refusing to give any comments. This is the first meeting of Arvizu and Rama for 2012.

Rama left by simply saying that nothing goes past the journalists. The lunch was held outside the working hours, in a time when the key word of the Albanian politics is the election of the next President, which doesn’t seem to leave the international factor uninvolved.
