The Socialist Leader, Edi Rama, says that in the meeting with the Prime
Minister, this Sunday, they will discuss the name of a consensual
president.

In an interview for Top Channel, Rama says that the next President must not be a notary of the Democratic Party or of the Socialist Party. According to Rama, if they find consensus for the president, they will also resolve other issues.

Top Channel: How did you find the agreement for a meeting with Berisha?

Edi Rama: There is nothing special. We received the invitation and we accepted it. Certainly, it is late, but better late than never.

Top Channel: The meeting will be exclusively for the presidential election, or will discuss the other matters discussed by the Socialist Party?

Edi Rama: A few days ago, the Prime Minister and I received a letter from the Commissioner for enlargement, Stefan Fule. The letter treats the point for which we asked a meeting, and for resolving them altogether, one by one. In the Sunday’s meeting we will discuss the Parliaments’ schedule about the election of a president, who, according to the international partners and the public opinion aspiration, should be consensual.

Top Channel: What are your expectancies about this meeting?

Edi Rama: Certainly that we will go to the meeting with the full will to elect the presidential issue or the new president of the republic, and this means that our expectancy is to agree through dialogue and consultations about an appropriate name, which must be the name of a public personality that will not be a notary of the Socialist or the Democratic Party.

Top Channel: An agreement that could be reached by you this Sunday, could mean that there will be a new president this Monday?

Edi Rama: This would be the best that could happen, and as for us, we will give all our efforts and good will.
