The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, has invited the Parliamentary Parties in
a meeting that will be held this Wednesday, one day before the last
deadline for voting the qualified majority laws that are required by the
European Union to give the EU candidate status.

Rama invited the Democratic Party leader, Sali Berisha; the Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, the Republican Party leader, Fatmir Mediu and dhe Party of Justice, Integration and Unity leader, Shpetim Idrizi. Rama summoned this meeting to find a solution for the Fier District issue.

The opposition is ready to fulfil its obligations, but adds that the Fier issue is directly connected with the functionality of democracy in Albania and with the implementation of court verdicts of this country.

“The Socialist leader is ready to sit and dialogue together with the government and opposition parliamentary parties to address this problem on good will and open way to the implementation of the court verdict, and also to pass the three laws that require the opposition’s vote. Whoever wants the EU candidate status for Albania, has the obligation to make all efforts and Edi Rama is ready to fulfil the opposition’s obligation, on behalf of the Socialist Party”, says the announcement published on the Socialist Party official website.

The communication ends with an appeal to Prime Minister Berisha, asking him to accept or not the idea of a direct confrontation about this issue in Parliament.

The PJIU gave a positive answer to the Socialist Party request. PJIU says that although delayed, Rama’s invitation is to be valued, and he hopes that this will not be an empty tactic for a media show, but a serious effort.
