Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The opposition leader, Edi Rama, participated at the “Socialist Woman
Forum”, with the women of Tirana. He declared that this is the time to
open a new chapter, as the men and women of this country wrote when they
had to change a regime.
“We are aware that the battle is different, but I am convinced that this is our battle and we are on the right side of history. Because we want to win for an Albanian rebirth, we want to win for honest taxes, so that every citizen can contribute with his taxes, but everyone regarding to their profits. We don’t want the people who profit more to pay less, and who profits less to pay more. Because we cannot accept that those among you and the others throughout Albania, who are unemployed and not ensured, when they go to the hospitals the state says to them “pay or die”. For us, the state must take care of the health of each citizen, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, man or woman and from whatever origin. Because the health care is an obligation of every society that calls themselves a democratic society, and a society where the rights and freedoms of people are equal”, Rama declared.
Rama added that the Socialist Party cannot accept that Albania has girls whoa re not allowed to study in universities just because they are girls. We cannot accept that the Albanian territory has mothers who cannot receive assistance from the state when they bring a child to life, just because they are unemployed, and on the same time they have to take care of their child”, Rama declared.
