Rama “hands over” mosque permit

This is what the Muslim believers had been waiting for 20 years. They turned into reality their desire and need to have a new religious building same as other religions.

The Head of the Muslim Community, Skender Brucaj, says that the efforts for building that mosque have started since the ‘30s.

“With the prayers of dozens of believers in Tirana, and with the support of the Albanian government, we ended the long wait and finalized all procedures for the construction of the Namazgja complex”, Rama declared.

“We took care of this matter not because we see this is a possible deposit of votes, but because it is an ethical and human obligation.

“We started it since the first day that I was appointed Prime Minister, with our government’s good will to guarantee religious dignity and freedom to all communities, and for ending the prolonged wait of the Muslim Community for a dream that was stopped by politics for 20 years”, Rama declared.

Rama visited the construction site together with the leaders of the Muslim Community.

“The new project has also a big public parking lot. Instead of a mosque with an apartment building, we have now a mosque and a public parking space for citizens”, Rama declared.

The complex will have a mosque, a cultural center and the first museum of Islam in Balkan.

The Muslim Community will decide about the date in the days to come. Besides the Turkish government, who have expressed their will to contribute financially, the Albanian citizens will also help for the construction.
