The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared at the ceremony organized in Vlore for the 105th anniversary of independence, that Albania and Kosovo share one Diaspora, and it will be treated as one.

Speaking about the meeting held yesterday in Korca, Rama said that this is the first time that the Diaspora is receiving special attention.

“The Albanian Diaspora is one of the biggest success stories of our country, for the main role it has played. For the first time, the Diaspora is receiving special attention, having both government structures of our countries address its concerns together. It is worth mentioning that we decided yesterday in Korca to see the Diaspora as one and address it as one, starting from the need to have our Diaspora registered and giving them the right to vote here in Albania. This process cannot be realized without support from third partners. In this case, we have the precious experience of the government of Kosovo, which has taken some steps ahead of us in this direction. Creating joint platforms is a necessity to improve the welfare of our people”, Rama declared.

In this ceremony, Rama also introduced the official logo of the Skanderbeg year. “Skanderbeg was the figure who marked the future of Albanians as a nation. This pan-national year of Skanderbeg is focused on consolidating institutions and cooperating with Albanians wherever they are, giving the best of our efforts to cooperate and make it together, reflecting this way on the glorious history that Skanderbeg wrote with the sword of a great pride. We must continue the democratic processes and keep consolidating the rule of law, security and transforming reforms that will keep us on the European path, dictates since when this country was dictated on the map of Europe, 105 years ago”, Rama said.

President Ilir Meta said that 2018 will be a year of national reflection on our historical memory and our identity.

The President of Kosov, Hashim Thaci, said that the Flag Day is a day of national pride, a day that renews our responsibility and awareness.
