On 29 November, the Liberation Day from the World War 2 occupators, the
opposition commemorated the Albanian Martyrs at the “Mother Albania”
Monument.

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, expressed the deep respect for all the people who died in the National Liberation War, and made an appeal for those who according to Rama are trying to touch this saint day for the Albanians.

“Happy Liberation Day, the day that cannot be changed and no one can delete from the memory or the history books. The day that covers in shame everyone that tries to touch it”, Rama says.

The Albanian left winged parties commemorated the people who died for Albania’s Liberation on November 29th, while the right winged honored them one day ago. Although in coalition with the right winged government, the Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, together with the government members and representatives of this political movement, honored the people who died for the country’s liberation by placing flowers at the “Mother Albania” Monument.

“28 and 29 November 2011 are two of the most important days in our history. November 29th is a very important day, because it was the victory of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation Army, when many partisans wisely opposed the evil”, Meta declared.

According to him, the date of the country’s liberation cannot be set by the later generations, and even less by political parties.
