Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, warned the danger of a possible collapse of the CEZ Distribution company.
According to him, the energy sector in Albania is suffering a deep crisis, dictated by the clients of the Prime Minister’s court.
“The burden on the Albanian families who pay energy is constantly increasing. The company was privatized with great promises by the government, for the clear responsibilities of the government. The situation is very serious and common people are paying an unjust price of a bad privatization. Overcharged family energy bills have turned into a daily issue. Thousands of them have went to the courts”, Rama declared.
Rama also mentioned the increasing price of oil and bad management of hydropower plants.
“Oil is exported with a very cheap price, due to a privatization of ARMO that was not studied at all. The worst is that the country keeps importing oil sub-products with a very high pace. We have a clear image of the political consequences in a policy that is completely adventurous with the hydropower plant concessions. What happens today with the energy sector and with the natural resources in general, is a time bomb that will gave threatening consequences for the economic stability of the country in the day to come”, Rama declared.
Rama paid a special importance to the Electoral Reform for which he declared that the Socialist Party will be coherent in fulfilling the OSCE ODIHR recommendations, by also underlining the importance that the propositions of the allies have in this process.
“We are ready to join every initiative that the other political forces could take without any prejudice, because we are talking about a reform that would guarantee the vote of every voter, not one of the parties. It is very important in this phase of the electoral reform to hold a very constructive debate. None of the parties have the power to impose something to the other. We are ready to start a public initiative for sharing this debate with all other political forces and the public”, Rama declared.
The Socialist leader reiterated the readiness of the Socialist Party for returning to a Spokesperson in the Electoral Reform Commission of the ally parties.
