Rama: Berlin, a unique visit

“I don’t think that there will be such an important visit in the next
six months, because the visit of the Albanian Prime Minister and of the
government’s delegation in the German Chancellery is unique for an
entire mandate, not for just six months”.

This was declared for Top Channel by the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, regarding his visit in Germany, adding that this visit is always important to Albania.

This official visit, received with the highest protocol of Germany, takes one more value when it is held two months before the decision for Albania’s EU candidate status.

“Besides the fact that this visit is very important for Albania, the meeting with the German Chancellor, the intensive communication and the good understanding that we had makes this visit special and unforgettable for me”, Rama declared.

When asked how he interpreted the optimism of Mrs.Angela Merkel about Albania’s candidate status, the Prime Minister declared: “I don’t want to comment what the Chancellor told you in the press conference, but I want to underline that we had the opportunity and honor to feel the support of Germany, which is historic in this period, it has been since the fall of communism, and that will also be important for the challenges that we are facing”.

Despite the support of Germany, Mr.Rama didn’t rush into quick predictions about the decision of June, while he stands to the position that the negative answer of December was influenced by specific circles of the European politics.

“I have no reason to change my convictions. Besides the cases when other circumstances, facts or arguments prevail, that part of the European politics had a negative influence in that delicate moment”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister concluded that his government will do its best not only for the candidate status, but also for what he calls “the path within ourselves”, building Europe within Albania.
