Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, declared that what happened yesterday in
the Albanian Parliament has damaged the country in front of the
international partners.
A few minutes after meeting Baroness Catherine Ashton, who visited Tirana during a Balkan tour, Rama expressed his gratitude to the high rank EU official for the strong messages that she gave.
Rama accused Prime Minister Sali Berisha of destroying the institution that administers the elections through a brutal and partial act with the voting of this Monday.
“The outgoing Prime Minister is taking very badly this ‘summer of a great solitude’. Berisha has remained without a serious ally and is surrounded by mercenaries. The replacement of the CEC member was exactly as in 1997, when the President was elected”, Rama declared, saying that the illegal manoeuvres of the Prime Minister cannot change the elections’ result.
