68 years were needed before an Albanian Prime Minister held an official
visit in Serbia. The Albanian delegation, composed of two Ministers,
businessmen and Albanian journalists, arrived at the Belgrade airport at
9:30.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs was the first one to meet with Prime Minister Rama. After a short reception ceremony, Rama met with Dacic at the VIP terminal, where they discussed for 15 minutes. Then he moved to the Serbia Palace.
The visit of the Albanian delegation was held under harsh security measures. There was even a small protest in front of the Prime Minister’s office that was dispersed quickly. The Albanian flag was raised for a few moments before the arrival of Rama at the Serbia palace, where the official reception ceremony was held.
Then both Prime Ministers held a meeting that was planned to last 20 minutes, but their differences of Kosovo made it go on for 50 minutes.
When asked by the Albanian media, Prime Minister Rama said that it was a difficult but very open conversation.
“There are things on which we cannot agree, but Serbia must accept the reality. The problem is at the approach, but we started a process”, Rama declared.
When asked about the football match issue, Rama said that there is nothing more he can say about it.
Albania and Serbia signed three agreements, one for the customs, one for the ID card border crossing and one for youth cooperation.
Rama will attend a meeting in the Presheva commune this Tuesday, where he will meet with the local Albanians.
