Rama: Albania facing three crisis

14/02/2012 00:00

The Socialist Party Parliamentary Group is discussing the emergency
situation in the Albanian territory, caused by the bad weather in north
and northeastern Albania.

The Socialist MPs reported for the situation created in some districts they represent.

“The situation in Bulqize is very serious, and we have sent aids only twice. The Bulqize Municipality and that of Peshkopia had no emergency funds”, declared the Socialist MP, Qemal Minxhozi.

MP Dogjani expressed his concern for the Kukes residents, who live in very bad conditions.

The other MP, Alfred Dalipi, says that there are 16 blocked villages in Korce, which are also living without electricity.

“The snow thickness in Vithkuq and Panarit reaches 2.5 meters”, Dalipi declared.

By the end of the meeting, the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, declared: “Besides the mad weather, Albania is facing today the deaf ear of the government. The government was deaf last November, when we asked the budget to predict the serious problems that now have brought the country to its knees”, Rama declared.

The Socialist leader underlined that Albania is facing today three crisis: the snow, the lack of electricity and floods.

“The Prime Minister forgot Albania yesterday and started talking about Azerbaijan, about Ahmet Zogu and Enver Hoxha, while we at the Socialist headquarters are receiving endless phone calls from people asking food and aid for the sick people of the isolated areas. People want to receive help from the state. Our state has degraded, and each year there are less human and financial resources for facing this crisis. The second bad thing is having a Prime Minister doesn’t have the least common sense and who speaks senselessly hour after hour. This is very serious”, Rama declared.

The Socialist leader considered as ridiculous the help that the government has given so far.

Rama gathers the Emergency Commission

The Emergency Commission, summoned by the Socialist Party, held the first extraordinary meeting yesterday.

The MPs who represent the areas affected by the snow and those who have directly participated in emergent situations during the Socialist mandate, discussed about the dramatic hours that northern Albania is facing.

The opposition leader reiterated that the Socialist heads of communes have been committed to make all they can, together with the other MPs, despite their limited capabilities. The Commission agreed to form a solidarity plan, a transparent reorganization and a real time informing about the help operations. The working teams were established, together with some preliminary measures for helping the residents.

Rama: Government, has no plan for this situation

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, asked the state structures to cooperate for helping the residents that have been isolated for the last days by the snow.

In a news conference, the Socialist leader declared that SP is ready to give its contribution for this situation, while he accused the government of not having a plan for confronting the situation.

“The government has no plan for the energy crisis that is approaching. CEZ and KESH are in great difficulties. We must gather our forces and make everything possible today”, Rama declared.
