Qemal Stafa stadium blocked

The lack of parking spots has turned into a major problem for the
Albanian capital, because it has made the traffic much slower, it has
damaged the roads and it has increased pollution.

Regardless the advantages that the construction of an underground parking from the Municipality near the national stadium, the Albanian Football Federation raised the alarm that the Stadium activity will be blocked on the verge of the first qualification matches for the World Cup 2014.

“The notification that most of the areas outside the stadium will be blocked are very concerning for us, because we cannot use it and we have no other stadium licensed by FIFA and UEFA. We asked to play the match with Georgia in Shkoder, but UEFA disapproved it, and it was the same for the Durres and Korce stadium. You can play a friendly match there, but not an official match.”, declared Eduard Prodani, General Secretary of the AFF.

As regards the demolition of the current national stadium and the construction of a new one, the bureaucracies have been delaying the realization of the project for a long time. However, the AFF has a new objective for initiating the construction works.

“The objective was to start working on November, and I don’t know if this will be possible, but we are making all efforts”, Prodani declared.

Besides the national team, the national stadium “Qemal Stafa” with host the Albanian Cup Finals between “Tirana” and “Skenderbeu”, at the Qemal Stafa stadium, a request of the Tirana fans and leaders. Only today, President Zeqo declared for the media that the final will be on “Qemal Stafa”, but even this request of him will probably not be realzied.

It is impossible, but however, we will wait for the municipality to answer”, Prodani explained.
