Albania’s public debt reached 7.6 billion EUR after the first trimester
of this year. The data come from a recent report from the Ministry of
Finances.

Numbers show that the government fund increased with 120 million EUR. However, its impact on the GDP has dropped.

The Ministry of Finances say that from 72.2% of the GDP, the national debt went down to 69.28%. This is due to slower loans and higher national production.

However, the dropping with three points is provisory. The annual figure is expected to be lower. The government foresees to be lower by the end of the year. Based on the budget predictions, the debt indicator is expected to be lower this year to 70.9% of the GDP, from 72.2% it was the past year.

After 2010, the public debt has increased constantly. 2016 is expected to be the first year with a lower debt, based on the budget predictions and the commitments the government has taken with the IMF.
