Dozens of citizens protested in front of Tirana’s Court against the
verdict that found three January 21st defendants not guilty.

They expressed their concern about what they called power abuse with the courts and nothing more than a symbol of dictatorship.

“Under the dictate of this government, the court went against the facts and victims and told the Albanians and the world that they deserved to get killed. We are here to protest because the judicial independence is the core of a system based on freedom, while abuse is the core of a dictatorships that threatens, and the dictatorship that all Albanians had to endure for more than 40 years”, declared analyst Andrea Stefani.

“This is not anymore a matter of legal justice, but a matter of human justice. We all saw what happened with Gerdec and with January 21st. We all have the moral duty, as citizens, to react about what happened and what is happening in our society”, declared Elton Kacidhja, representative of Mjaft.

The protesters invited citizens to join them to liberate the Albanian justice from the autocratic power.
