Employees of a paper bags shop have protested today in Korça because they are excluded from the government’s “war salary” compensation scheme.
Over 50 girls and women gathered in protest at the Tax Directorate in Korça to seek a solution to the situation.
The business where they worked was closed since March 10 as a result of coronavirus but they have not been able to benefit from the government’s so-called war pay package, while for many it was the only income that covered the family’s expenses.
But the Regional Tax Directorate on its part, clarified that the business employees could not receive the war salary because their employer had removed them from the insurance scheme before the closure date.
A few days ago, traders of the Korça industrial market also protested because they were not beneficiaries of the war salary from the first government package.
