Following the protests of public transport companies against the continued closure of the activity, a reaction came from transport Ministry regarding the situation of public transport.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy stated that in the state of the health emergency situation in the country, the opening of public transport is not in the competence of the Ministry or the transport companies, but only of the government’s Technical Committee of Health Experts.
In order to support the public transport sector, the Albanian Government has taken several measures such as recognition as a deductible expense of 100% of oil consumption, at an amount of about 7 million dollars from state budget, and the abolition of all local taxes and fees for public transport entities, until December 31, 2020.
