Dozens of citizens who live in the suburbs of the Capital protested
against the pollution caused by a site that collects and processes metal
scrap.

The site is situated among the houses and the residents report noise and air pollution problems.

Gjon Prendi, a resident of the area, says that his brother’s children and many other residents complain about strong headaches, stomach problems and other issues.

The factory is a few meters from the houses, and the residents demand the Environment Ministry to implement law.

“Based on a government order, the site should respect a 5 kilometer distance. We see that the works are being conducted behind our house walls”, another resident declares.

In this factory has started the dismantling process of many army tanks, and the residents say that they will not stop protests.

They say that even the land has been contaminated, since their agricultural products are grown badly.
