Prosecutors give conclusion for Gerdec

The Prosecution presented today at the Court of Tirana their conclusions for the Gerdec tragedy sentences.

The Prosecutor read the pretences for all 29 defendants of this case and the entire chronology of events, based on the testimonies taken by the investigations and other facts and documents. The prosecution’s conclusions are summarized in a 500 pages long document and will take some days before they will read the part of the sentence for each defendant.

Prosecutor Altin Dumani declared that the initiator of this business that caused the Gerdec Tragedy is the former director of the MEICO Company, Ylli Pinari, and his partner, the owner of the Albademil Company that dismantled the ammunition.

According to the prosecutors, Pinari was the one who gave the idea for this business and met the arm dealer, Patrick Henry, to whom he presented Mihal Delijorgji. The Prosecutor then explained the mechanism that was used for building the Gerdec dismantling unit, the registering process of the Albademil Company at court and the National Center of Registration, and also the legal steps that were taken for opening way to the ammunition dismantling process.

The Prosecution declared that Ylli Pinari, as director of the MEICO; Mihal Delijorgji, owner of the Albademil Company; Dritan Minxholli and Sokol Ngjeci, director of the dismantling plant; are accused of murder in qualifying circumstances, in collaboration, causing the death of 26 persons. This accusation might cost to the defendants the maximal sentence of the Albanian law.

The Prosecution is continuing to read their conclusions, and according to the prosecutors, it will last maybe until the end of this week, when will be declared the pretended sentence for each of the defendants.
