The Prosecutor General, Adriatik Llalla, said in an interview for the
VOice of America that the USA rejected the visa request to the
Prosecutor of Durres, Agron Gjana.
Llalla says the visa was rejected for missing documentation and since they suspected he would not return. Later he added that no other Prosecutor had his visa rejected. The PG denied claims that he had not been allowed to meet with American law-enforcing agencies. He said he is visiting the USA for an international conference on criminal law.
When asked about corruption among prosecutors, Llalla said that investigations held in a record time have resulted with the arrest of two prosecutors and plenty of other public officials were brought to justice, including Mayors and even a former Minister.
When asked about the valuable objects of Albanian Prosecutors and Judges, Llalla said that in Albania there is a specific institution that investigates assets. Making accusations about a watch or a ring is not enough.
As for the justice reform, Llalla said that Prosecution experts have joined the commission and llalla has given his suggestions and remarks. “It is important for all parties to present their opinions and decide what is right and what not”.
