Prosecutor General: “Prosecution Council based on the Croatian Model”

25/01/2016 14:40

Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla spoke for the first time about the
justice reform, expressing his reserves for the Council of Prosecutors.
The Prosecutor General is currently attending a visit to Croatia, and he
supports the Croatian version of this council.

The Prosecution Council in Croatia is independent, made of 11 members, seven of whom are Prosecutors. It is led by a member elected by Prosecutors. The Albanian model, according to Llalla, has a fragile majority of Prosecutors. The Croatian version, according to him, is more suitable for the Albanian institution.

However, different from the Croatian model, the Anti-Corruption Prosecution in Albania is expected to operate as an independent institution, even from the Prosecution General.

The Prosecutor General says the Prosecution and the Court of Serious Crimes can play this role and increase efficiency in the fight against corruption.

Lalla met in Zagreb with his Croatian Counterpart, Dinko Cvitan, with whom he discussed the cooperation between both countries with criminal investigations, especially for the fight against corruption and economic crime.
