Nine high-level officials, MPs and Mayors, are on the list of the Prosecution General as part of the decriminalization law.
Top Channel verified that six of them are Parliament Members, Artan Gaci, Armando Prenga, Gledion Rehovica, Aqif Rakipi, Omer Mamo and Mhill Fufi.
The other three are the Mayors of Polican, Tepelena and Pogradec.
All these officials come from the majority, except for Mhill Fufi and the Mayor of Pogradec, Eduard Kapri, who is the former councilor of the Social-Democratic Party. Mhill Fufi was also expelled from the Democratic Party for his different vote on the judiciary reform.
MP Artan Gaci says he was surprised with the news. He said he has never been arrested, detained or convicted in Europe or in any other country.
“If there was only one suspicion, I would have not been allowed to enter the Italian Senate and other municipalitied”, he has reportedly said.
The Prosecution involved the Central Election Commission too, asking about their respective decriminalization applications.
CEC realized the process months ago and replied that the nine politicians are not in a position of losing their mandates.
The official request of the CEC was sent this Monday to the Prosecution, which is the only institution that can investigate them in the future.
