“Progressive tax will never be imposed”

The Albanian Prime Minister attacked the economic alternative offered by
the Socialist Party, the progressive tax, saying that it is a direct
war against the rich class, and the examples of the past show that it
has ruined the country.

The Head of the Albanian government declared that this tax would cut half of the Albanian jobs.

“If the government takes money from the rich, there would be no money left for their workers’ wages. This tax attacks rich people. This is the policy that ruined Albania. Albania had rich people before, during and after the war. The fight against them brought the most extreme poverty in Albania. I would advise Mr.Rama to give up from the nostalgic ideas of his uncle, because this country will never accept Koleka’s taxes anymore. Put some flowers on his grave if you want to honour him, but don’t go to the taxes”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister added that the other alternative against the tax of destruction, as he called the progressive tax, is the majority’s package of reforms that will improve businesses.

“The new tax package will boost businesses. We believe that business is the generator of social welfare, not the government. Rama wants an Albania that works for the government. We want a government that works for the Albanians. This is the main difference and we will stand up for this principle for as long that the Albanians will vote this majority”, Berisha declared.

Rama: Berisha thinks that capitalism is taking power through violence

The Albanian opposition leader reacted on Twitter right after the Prime Minister’s declarations.

“Saying that honest taxes is communism, when the flat tax is capitalism, it means that you think that capitalism is stealing the power through violence”, Rama declared.

In another message he added: “A Prime Minister who pays fewer taxes than a teacher and shouts ‘Forward!’, is a Prime Minister who destroys the middle class with the flat tax”, Rama declared.

As for the unemployment, the opposition leader added:
“Denying that the country you lead has 1 million unemployed and shouting ‘Forward!’ means leading this country towards a constant ruin”.
