Private hospitals reacted after the General Tax Office’s declaration that the health sector is the mostly prone to evasion.
“We have worked with a very open door policy to all inspections from the state administration. We are constantly subject to repeated inspections from these institutions”, declared Juliana Lajthia, director of operations at the Hygeia Hospital.
Representatives of this sector support the Tax Office initiative and asked the Health Ministry to inspect service quality.
“If we don’t have fiscal transparency in a hospital or clinic, then this leaves room to patient abuses and to a non-ethical relation between patients and doctors. The American Hospital, as the biggest tax-payer in this sector, supports and welcomes the initiative undertaken by the General Tax Office and their declaration for detailed inspections in this sector”, declared Klod Alljabeu.
The Tax Office declared a few days ago that together with tourism and construction, the private health sector is the most suspicious for tax evasion.
