In an interview for Top Channel, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa listed what
has been achieved so far by the republic of Kosovo, which celebrates its
9th anniversary of independence.
He said the visa liberalization is not a failure, and that it will find a solution very soon, together with the Demarcation of the border with Montenegro, the Association of Serb communes, and freeing of Ramush Haradinaj.
Top Channel’s journalist Thimi Samarxhiu had this interview with Prime Minister Mustafa.
“I am convinced that we have undertaken huge steps for building the state of Kosovo in many sectors; foreign recognition, economic development, macroeconomic stabilization and building good relations with our neighbors. We have also taken important steps with European Integration, especially with the Stabilization Association Agreement. We will normalize relations with our neighbors, especially with Serbia”, Mustafa said.
Top Channel: You mentioned good relations with neighbors. Ramush Haradinaj is not in Kosovo today, due to an arrest-order released by Serbia. He is being detained in France. There was a tense situation with the train too. How do you see the situation with Serbia?
Isa Mustafa: There have been provocations recently from Serbia, which we discussed in Brussels. It is sad that former Prime Minister Haradinaj is not here to celebrate this day with us. We will give our maximal efforts to resolve these problems, because this matter does not belong to Haradinaj only. It concerns other people who fought for freedom. These arrest orders are unfounded and illegal.
Top Channel: Can we say that the Association of Serb Communes, the visa regime and demarcation with Montenegro are a failure?
Isa Mustafa: The Association of Serb Communes does not put in danger the constitutional system or the democratic functionality of Kosovo. We have a Constitutional Court verdict, but it should be planned so that it doesn’t take executive responsibilities, and that it doesn’t turn into a third power. This will be done. As for the demarcation with Montenegro, it is a political cause that also has the opposition behind it, with a strong stance. We will work with the opposition too, to find a solution. All remaining doubts can be discussed with Montenegro later.
Top Channel: A final message, and how will Kosovo be on its 10th anniversary of independence?
Isa Mustafa: I am convinced that it will be more developed, and visas will liberalized at any cost. Everyone must know that this will be done, so that our citizens can move freely to EU countries, same as other citizens.
