Former Minister of Energy, Dritan Prifti, accused the CEZ Company for
collective punishment against the consumers. Mr. Prifti referred to the
case of Dermenas, where, according to him, the Company is applying
collective punishment in full violation with the Albanian law.
“I had a meeting with 28 families of the area where the energy was interrupted, and i saw that their bills were paid and signed regularly. This shows that these people are being punished unjustly in a collective way”, Prifti declared.
Prifti added that this is happening with the permission of the authorities, who are assigned by law to protect the consumers.
“It is an arrogance that must be punished. The residents knocked on the doors of the company, and no one gave a solution to them. The residents have communicated with the Energy Regulatory Entity, with the Company and the Prime Minister, but they haven’t received any answer”, Prifti declared.
The Czech Company rejected all accusations, declaring that the residents are not being supplied with energy because they have not paid the bills for a long time. According to CEZ, the energy will be reconnected at the moment when most of them will start paying their obligations.
