Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialists will not vote the candidacy of Bujar Leskaj, decreed by
the President Bamir Topi as the new Supreme State Audit Chairman, after
the Democratic Party MPs rejected the candidacy of Sali Shehu.
Top Channel has learned that Leskaj was rejected by the opposition during their Parliament meeting, but further details will be available for showing the reasons that drew them to this decision.
The majority has not officially declared what they will do with the President’s second decree. Different to Sali Shehu, the former Democratic Party Minister of Culture, Bujar Leskaj, has no professional obstacles, since he has a PhD in economics. However, the democrats showed no enthusiasm for approving the Presidential decree.
Unofficial DP sources say that the President has not respected the Constitutional Court for consulting the Parliament before decreeing the candidates of Constitutional institutions.
The Democrats also say that Leskaj’s candidacy is partial, and would not serve to the independence of the Supreme State Audit.
The Prime Minister highlighted this lack of enthusiasm even more, when he replied “I don’t deal with words, only with acts”, to the question if they would approve the new candidacy decreed by the President.
If the democrats will not support Leskaj’s candidacy, the President will be obliged to propose a third one
