The Albanian President, Bamir Topi honored the Commune of Bari in Italy with the “Medal of Gratitude” under the motivation “Deep gratitude
for the support given to thousands of Albanian immigrants who landed in this
area 20 years ago.”
The President expressed his pleasure for participating in an activity organized for the anniversary of the arrival of “Vlora” ship in Bari, on board of which there were thousands of Albanians who were seeking the freedom that was denied to them by the communist dictatorship.
The President made a special greeting to his homologue, the Italian President Napolitano, as one of the personalities who has a special contribute for strengthening the Italian-Albanian relations.
