The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali berisha, had a meeting with the
General Director of the EU Enlargement, Stefano Sannino, where he
declared that the majority supports the candidacy of Xhezair Zaganjori
for President.

The Council of Ministers’ press release says that in this meeting, Berisha and Sannino discussed about the reforms that Albania needs for the EU integration and also for the presidential elections.

Berisha underlined that, in respect of his commitment, the process is in full accordance with the Constitutional Spirit, based on negotiations and consults. He expressed his full belief that the process that is being held in Parliament and the candidacies offered by the majority fulfill the conditions and criteria for completing the process with the election of a president that guarantees consensus and wide support from the political forces and the public opinion.

After the meeting with Prime Minister Berisha, the EU director met the Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, at the Socialist headquarters. The meeting was held without the presence of the media.

The only witnesses of Sannino’s conversation with Rama are the EU Ambassador in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, and the two Socialist MPs, Gjiknuri and Bushati, who lead the Parliamentary and Electoral Reform Commission together with the Democrats.

Different from the meeting between Berisha and Sannino, who released a press statement for their meeting, the Socialist Party gave no comments.

Sannino arrived in Tirana on the moment when the Parliament is ready to start the procedures for the third Presidential election round.
